According to the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa, the Immigration Act of South Africa does not allow entry or transit using non-machine-readable passports, hand-written and extended passports. This regulation applies to all types of passports and nationals.

According to this provision, using extended passports when transiting at airports to go to Africa will not be accepted.

To avoid the risk for business groups entering or transiting in Middle East countries of Africa, it is recommended that individuals going on business should apply for issuing new passports; do not use the extended ones.
